"Joy." Netflix. 2024.

A drama based on the story of IVF.

Like many of you, I watched this as soon as I could. On balance, I thought it was pretty good.

The movie reminded me that I'd written a post in 2019 drawn from Louise Brown's autobiography. There was so much, especially  about her parents' early lives, that surprised me! Read it here: Things I didn't know about the world's first IVF baby.

Also, I really liked this personal reflection on the movie, by Roger Gosden, a reproductive scientist who trained under Robert Edwards.

I've also decided to reread Robin Marantz Henig's excellent 2004 book, Pandora's Baby: How the First Test Tube Babies Sparked the Reproductive Revolution.
